Your Hurry Really Isn’t My Hurry

There used to be this guy named Howard Dumble in the LA music scene who built the absolute most sought-after custom guitar amplifiers. They were outrageously priced and you didn’t get one built in less than a year, often times even longer than that. When you earn $75K to $150K per amp from the biggest names in the music business, there’s no reason to pump them out at a rapid pace. He died a very rich man in 2022 and never got in a hurry for anybody.

Myself, on the other hand, I am not a custom guitar amp builder to the musical elite. I also do not get in a hurry for anybody, but I will if there’s some really big money involved or you are paying me a wage that I agreed to accept. Don’t get carried away trying to rush me if I agreed to do you a favor, because the people who are actually paying money are in line ahead of you. It’s a rather simple concept, you get what you pay for, speed costs money!

Whether it’s electronic repair, computer repair, or something that requires custom programming or scripting, my help policy is the same for everything. The more I benefit, the higher your task will be on my priority list. Any unannounced visits to check on my progress will only result in your task being pushed even further back. I’m not running a business here for locals, I have nothing to lose, and nothing but free time to gain so I can earn money from actual payingΒ clients.

Friends and family for some reason wonder why I’m so anti social, why I no longer have a doorbell button, why the front door mat says “Go Away”, and why their calls almost always go to voice mail. As soon as anybody wants something fixed, I’m right at the top of their list of friends. Then when I need help, people are always busy, or it’s too cold, or it’s too hot, or their stars just aren’t in the right alignment. Lazy fuckers always seem to have no shortage of lame excuses.

Here’s an idea…If you’re begging me for a favor and I’m not moving fast enough for you, maybe try learning how to fix your own shit. Start out simple, learn how not to fuck up your stuff all the time. Don’t be a careless moron just because you know somebody who can undo your disasters. If this sounds too complicated, then go get a job and pay for faster results. BAM! Problem solved! I have yet to have a single visitor show up here that is disabled and can’t actually work.

I’m not on this planet for recognition or participation trophies, I don’t wake up every day hoping to get an atta-boy, and I honestly do not like visitors. If I offer a favor or a helping hand, I’ll do it when I can fit it into my schedule. As long as I am being paid by somebody else, you’re never going to be first in line. If a favor isn’t up to your would-be high level of sophistication, then pay for something better instead of bitching about it. Again, you get what you pay for!
