I keep seeing various social media posts and YouTube videos from people bitching about Flock Safety cameras, and they usually involve people complaining to their local city council or showing somebody cutting down the cameras. It’s surprising to me that more people aren’t aware of the most common zero-touch method for dealing with any intrusive video camera. Guess why security cameras are aimed in a way so that it never captures an east or west horizon.
I learned this lesson the hard way with my own cameras, then I realized how that weakness in a video camera is the easiest way to take one out without ever touching it and how it can be done outside of the camera’s useful focal range or field of view. Video cameras do not tolerate intense light shining at them, which is why you need to use a special filter in order to take video or photos of the sun. This is why you avoid capturing the east or west horizon.
No, that switchable IR light filter won’t save the camera. A camera picking up the direct sunrise every day will start developing a purple or pink hue in just a couple months and will soon degrade itself to producing an extremely dim image. This is why all video cameras are no match for a simple 1 watt green handheld laser. You could even swipe the blue 2 watt laser from a basic $150 Ortur brand laser engraver (just add a 12 volt battery) and be equally as lethal to a video camera.
Why would a person make a bunch of noise and risk being caught by another camera, when you can just put a laser on a tripod with X/Y thumb screws to aim it from a distance that the camera can’t focus? No, they don’t have infinite focus, this is why they only read license plates on the closest vehicle. 2 or 3 seconds of that laser trained on the lens will ruin the sensor. Leave it there for a minute and you can likely melt a hole right through it. Zero-touch, 100% effective remedy!
Yes, the lasers that I’m referring to here are the exact same ones that the Antifa-Tards used to attempt to blind cops and fuck with their helicopters during the “summer of love festivals” of 2020. Neither these, nor laser engravers are a controlled purchase item, just don’t aim them at people or aircraft and you have nothing to worry about. Just keep in mind that at night, the beam can become visible if there is fog, smoke, or anything else in the air passing through it.
I’m simply telling people about a known weakness in every video camera ever made, use this information however you see fit. I’ll just say that if I was on a mission to take out nefarious video cameras, I’d do it in broad daylight, from beyond their useful focal range, without using anything that makes noise, and without leaving fingerprints. My method has been tested and proven effective on a wide array of cameras and those Flock cameras are nothing special.
Contrary to what that dimwitted Cyb3rMaddy bimbo on YouTube says, this has been tested numerous times with a class 4, 1 watt (or greater) laser. Her lame-ass video shows a $20 AAA battery powered pocket laser pointer.
